Wellington International Airport Taxiway A Widening & Surfacing
Recycling was an important focus during our work on the widening and resurfacing of Taxiway A at Wellington International Airport. We recycled 15 per cent of the existing taxiway pavement and used it on the new overlay making it the first project in Wellington to recycle this volume of pavement.
The project included earthwork preparation, widening the pavement, realigning the centre line, installing uPVC ducting, electrical chambers, a new lighting system and drainage as well as resurfacing the taxiway area. The airport pavement is a specialised, highly-engineered product designed to withstand ongoing heavy loadings from aircrafts.
All work was carried out at night as the taxiway is operational during the day.
